The Casper Drillers finished second at the Wyoming State ‘B’ Tournament in Sheridan, WY to the Cheyenne Hawks.  The Drillers dropped their opening game to the Sheridan Jets 2 to 0 and then pulled off  four wins in a row to work their way back to the championship.  The Hawks would eventually end the streak and take the title for State ‘B’.

However, since the Cheyenne Hawks are hosting the Junior Regional Tournament the Drillers earned a berth to go to Cheyenne.  The Drillers will open up play on Thursday at 10:00am against Loveland, CO.  Other teams participating in the Jr. Regional are the Colorado Kahos, Torrington Tigers, Rapid City Bullets, Rapid City Cadets, and a team from Minnesota yet to be named.

Casper Legion Baseball would like to send our congratulations to the Drillers for their efforts at State and we wish them the best of luck in Cheyenne this week!

The Powell Pioneers held off the late surge from the Casper Oilers to earn the number one seed in the North District.

Powell Starter Grant Geiser worked a complete game for the Pioneers on the hill to earn the win 6 to 5.  Oiler starter Brandon Watson took the loss. He worked four and third innings giving up five earned runs.

The Oiler offense seemed to catch fire late in the game and managed to put up a four spot in the eighth, but it just wasn’t enough as the Pionners held on to win 6 to 5.

Powell will take on the Riverton Raiders and Casper will face the Laramie Rangers at next weeks State Tournament in Rock Springs.
