Drillers Drop Opener to Jets

The Casper Drillers dropped their opening game at the Wyoming State ‘B’ Tournament in Sheridan, WY on Thursday at Thorn Rider Stadium to the host Sheridan Jets 2 to 0. Despite a tough pitching performance from Chris Haley through six and Will Cordova’s shut out inning in the seventh the Driller offense could not muster a run in the game.
The Drillers will face the Cody Cubs at 12:30pm on Friday in a loser out contest.

Wednesday’s games vs the Sheridan Jets has been cancelled due to rain. The Drillers leave Friday morning to Rapid City for three days of competitive baseball. Playing the host team Post 22 Cadets, and Bullets Friday evening, following with Gillette on Saturday morning, and Sturgis on Sunday.
Douglas Hands Drillers First Loss

Douglas got off to a quick start handing the Drillers their first loss 11-1. The Cats rallied early batting through their line-up and scoring 9 runs in the 3rd. However, Clay Brownell came in strong quieting the roar, not giving up any hits and only one earned run in 4 2/3 innings. William Cardova provided most of Casper’s little offense going 2-2 with a pair of singles.
The Dirllers have a big weekend coming up. Hosting Cheyenne Saturday at 1:00 & 3:30 PM at Crossroads, and traveling to Gillette for another douple dip on Sunday.
Drillers Sweep Rustlers

The Drillers opened up their home schedule with a sweep over Gillette Rustlers.
Dayne Lubenow started the first game allowing 5 runs in 5 innings, leaving with a 6-5 lead. He helped himself out on offense going 2-3 with a couple of scored runs. Casey Karch also went 2-3 with a pair of runs, adding 4 RBIs and a stolen base.
Game 2 turned into a horse race. The Drillers prevailed 13-12, after a game winning RBI by Jeremy Dixon. Casey Karch stayed hot going 4-5 with two more runs, two RBIs, and another stolen base. Clay Brownell also contributed going 3-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs.
The Drillers play again Wednesday, May 27th, at 6:00 PM against Douglas.
